OUCH!  That Stereotype Hurts         Communicating Respectfully in a Diverse World

Join us for an interactive session to learn useful,  easy-to-learn phrases and skills for speaking up effectively against bias and stereotypes.

Employers, this is an opportunity for you to see what this program has to offer to your workplace. We can come and deliver this program to your employees to improve communication in your organization.

Why is Ouch! Important?

Staying silent in the face of demeaning comments, stereotypes or bias allows these attitudes and behaviors to thrive. This undermines our ability to create an inclusive workplace where all employees are welcomed, treated with respect and able to do their best work. Yet, most employees and leaders who want to speak up don’t know how.

  • Understand the impact of stereotypes and biased statements, even when casually said.
  • Identify the most common reasons people sit silent in the face of bias and stereotypes.
  • Enhance skills for speaking up against stereotypes without blame or guilt.

Tuesday, Feb 19th 11:30-1:30 at The Waterfront!  $15 includes lunch!  This event is co-sponsored with the Chamber and ISU Extension & Outreach.  For more information contact Sue Boettcher at 712-336-3488
